Naad Yatra - Varanasi
24-28 March, 2014

The ancient city of Varanasi was selected as the setting for the first Naad Yatra musical retreat.

Varanasi is known to be the oldest living city in the world. At the same time, it has been an important hub for Indian classical music. The Banaras Gharana is one of the more famous Gharanas of music in India and is more than 200 years old. Many leading classical musicians performing in India and abroad belong to this Gharana. Some noteworthy artists are Ustad Bismillah Khan, Rajan-Sajan Misra, Girija Devi, among others.

The Varanasi retreat was specifically designed to provide the participants an opportunity to explore the ancient city of Banaras and to experience its people, history, culture, music, famous galis (small lanes and bylanes), food and important sights whilst keeping the focus on the inward journey of discovering Brahma through Naad dhyaan.
The maiden journey in Varanasi had people participating from across the country – North India, South India, East India & Central India.
