Some Thoughts on Music, Language and Body by Gundecha Gurujis from a Workshop in Barcelona

August 5, 2014

Dhrupad music is the Nad-filled journey of the body from the Kundalini at the Mooladhar (at the base of the spine) to the Brahma randhra (the opening at the centre of the skull).

The journey of awareness along this path manifests as music. Musical experience indicates the path, just as the path illumines the experience of music. Enjoyment is not just a characteristic of the path, it is its nature, its dharma.

This journey elevates body and mind to an exalted level.

Rendering the body as equipment (yantra), Dhrupad creates a tantra (process) for the practice of mantra. Using this process, the mind naturally acquires the state of meditation.
